Why Are So Few Profiles Verified

We're new to the site and are wondering why there seems to be so few verified profiles? On other sites it seems that there is a much higher percentage of verified profiles. 

It's an awesome question we've been asking ourselves for a while on here.  

Even after management added the "Search by Verified", it seems to have hardly made a difference.  We just assume that everyone not verified are just LARPers. 
People are strange.

Also, we are ESPECIALLY skeptical of single-women (unicorn) profiles that aren't verified.  (These are the especially high-probability cat-fishers).  We've had many of these, always turn out to be fakes.  New rule for us, if it's a single woman contacting us that hasn't been photo-verified (at the very least (i.e. no vouches by verified members), after asking them to verify, and they don't, they are definitely fakes.

We'd hazard a guess that it's the "low-bar" for entry on this site.  Free sign-up, looks good... Catfishers create an account with whatever BS they want, and fish for peoples pix posing as an interested couple, or especially a 'unicorn'.

With a low-bar like that, people eventually start to ignore everyone that isn't verified... which is basically almost everyone on here!.  lol  Seems the people that aren't verified, DON'T CARE that they aren't verified.  The serious people, verify.  It's pretty simple.  (I'd say 90% of people that have contacted us that weren't verified, that we've then asked to submit a verification, still haven't bothered to do it... we just file it under 'fakes').  Sad.

Dammit, sorry for the rant!  I could go on...

not like its complicated.  First red flag for a couple is non verified account.  way too many sketchy hubby's claiming to be couple and the wife has no clue.  we generally figure if she is willing to have her pic taken with verification paper..she obviously is aware of things..LOL

Unfortunately it's becoming readily apparent that much like AFF the majority of profiles on this site are fake and/or have no interest in actually meeting in person. 

I hope my first post didn't dissuade you.  We have met lots of good people on this site.  It just takes a LOT of extra vigilance.

We aren't verified. Just haven't gotten around to it. We have pics... can offer to go on camera... We are active members on this site... and have a very thorough profile.  they only introduced the "verify" process like 6 months ago. Before that it was only vouched by other members.

Just for those who don't know it only takes about 3 minutes to submit your verification request & you get 7 days of premium free once it's approved.  

The only reason we verified is to get rid of the nag on the feed.

I know several real people on this site who have not bothered to verify. Only one profile on my friend list has actually verified and all of them are people I have met in real life. I can't speak for them, but I think some real people don't care about getting verified because they don't see the need. Personally, hubby and I already have enough potential play partners on our radar that we've already met in real life so we don't need to prove ourselves to anyone.

Filtering by verified certainly improves your chances of actually meeting "someone" on this site, but it also drastically narrows your prospects. And that's just the way it is. It's not likely to change unless the site starts offering some pretty sweet incentives.

I prefer to get out in the real world. That has worked well for us.
